ISUZU D-Max & MU-X Gen 1 & Gen 2

Taking over from Holden’s Rodeo, the Isuzu D-Max hit the market in 2008 with an impact with the release of the RA model. In 2021 Isuzu released the second generation, with the third generation released in Australia in August 2020, with a new engine (see Gen 3 page for more info). With a number of facelifts & improvements along the way, they are easily able to handle off-road work as well as being able to haul & tow well. The D-Max is built to work & is available in a wide-range of body styles from tradie-spec to the reasonably comfortable dual-cab family 4X4. The more family-friendly wagon variety, the MU-X, was released in 2013 to great reviews – it offers good looks & style, plus a much more comfortable & luxurious ride experience over the D-Max, but can also tow very well & perform well off-road & on the beach. The best part of these Isuzus is the engine – the gutsy 3-litre 4 cylinder 4JJ1, also found in the RC Colorado, responds incredibly well to modifications & tuning.
