In 2018, VW toughened-up the engine stakes of the Amarok, by announcing the arrival of the TDI550 Amarok, which adds a powerful new V6 turbo engine into the mix, packing a great punch. In August 2018, the TDI580 was released, coming out with the same engine but with more power & torque. Tough-looking with performance to boot, the V6 Amaroks come in a variety of forms & have no dramas going off-road or towing a big load. In terms of sales, they have overtaken the smaller 2-litre engine Amaroks & dominnated as figures state that the V6 Amarok makes up around 70% of Amaroks sold in Australia! The 3-litre V6 turbocharged engine in both responds well to modifications & custom dyno tuning.
