A Transmission Lock-Up Kit controls the operation of the torque converter clutch within an automatic transmission. When the torque converter is locked, it creates a more direct connection between the engine & transmission, reducing unnecessary converter slip during suitable driving conditions. Designed to improve torque converter operation, a UDT Transmission Lock-Up Kit will help reduce transmission temperatures, improve responsiveness & reduce unnecessary RPM flaring.

HOW CAN A TRANSMISSION LOCK-UP KIT REDUCE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURES?
Torque converter slip creates heat within an automatic transmission. When towing, climbing hills, carrying additional weight or driving in demanding conditions, increased torque converter activity can contribute to higher transmission temperatures. A UDT Transmission Lock-Up Kit allows the torque converter to remain locked during appropriate driving conditions, reducing unnecessary slip & helping to keep transmission temperatures under control. This makes a lock-up kit particularly beneficial for vehicles regularly used for towing caravans, boats, trailers or carrying heavy loads.
HOW DOES A TRANSMISSION LOCK-UP KIT IMPROVE ENGINE BRAKING & DRIVEABILITY?
When the torque converter is locked, there is a more direct connection between the engine & transmission. This can provide stronger engine braking when travelling downhill, giving the driver greater vehicle control – particularly when towing. Reducing unnecessary torque converter slip can also improve responsiveness & reduce RPM flaring, resulting in a more direct & predictable driving experience.

Here at UDT, not only do we have several years of combined diesel custom dyno tuning & mechanical experience, but we have also invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into required master tuning specialised equipment & staff training to achieve the best result possible for our customers.
At all of our performance centres, we have new in-house Dyno Dynamics dynamometers (that cater for both 4WD & 2WD vehicles) & all tunes performed are custom to each vehicle (not a generic flashtune), carried out to not only ensure a great increase in power, torque & response; but also to ensure that the tune is safe & reliable as well. This means that your vehicle will be 100% custom dyno tuned PROPERLY & individually by our experienced tuners/engineers using our master equipment & our in-house dynos – we will also perform the custom dyno tune to YOUR requirements & goals, also with your engine condition/age in mind.
A custom dyno tune by UDT is NOT a generic tune from another vehicle that’s loaded into your ECU, with a provided “before” & “after” dyno sheet (which is unfortunately very common in this industry to do).
